Meet Shannon, your travel curator

I’m a former finance executive turned travel curator and founder of Get Uncomfy. I believe the most meaningful travel happens just outside our comfort zone, and I love helping others find that sweet spot for themselves.

I’m all about connection and contrast: connection to the people, culture, and destination, and contrast between luxe and local, adventure and relaxation, and the familiar and the unknown.

Think a wine-paired tasting menu one night and street food the next. A five-star hotel followed by a cozy homestay.

Having traveled to 32 countries (and counting!), lived and worked abroad, and spent months immersed in cultures around the world, I bring firsthand experience, thoughtful planning, and genuine curiosity to every itinerary I create.

All the recommendations were spot on to our vibe.

Our trip was amazing – all the recommendations were spot on to our vibe. Off-the-beaten-path, but high quality food, hikes, and hot springs. The trip document was easy to use and the added history made it even more fun.

Shannon did the legwork that I felt too overwhelmed to take on.

Planning our honeymoon in Bali felt overwhelming after the wedding. Shannon did the legwork, tailored the trip to our “uncomfy” level, and gave us a helpful document we could use throughout our travels. I can’t wait to plan our next adventure with her!

Shannon helped us score sold-out sumo tickets.

Shannon made our 10-day family trip to Japan seamless – from tailoring the itinerary to our family’s goals to pre-trip guidance that scored us sold-out sumo tickets. She even optimized routes to save us time and money.

The suggestions were impeccable.

The service at Get Uncomfy really is at a personalized level. The suggestions of vineyards and restaurants in Sonoma were impeccable – I even became a quarterly wine member of one. The itinerary was interactive and served as a fun guide as we went about the weekend.

I know we'll be using Get Uncomfy for our next vacation!

Shannon helped us plan our best European vacation ever – Milan, Lake Como, and Lugano. Her attention to detail made everything easy and stress-free, from landing in Milan to where to eat. We’ll definitely use Get Uncomfy again for our next trip!

It was stress-free from start to finish.

I used Get Uncomfy for a last-minute birthday trip, and it was stress-free from start to finish. Shannon was incredibly responsive – handling every question and change within minutes. Truly the best travel planning service I’ve ever used.

Nestled near the ocean, my village instilled in me a profound love for fish and bustling markets. My journey led me from the shores of my hometown to the diverse cuisines of Europe during my engineering studies. While my technical background afforded me the chance to live abroad and pursue a master’s in electronics, my true calling emerged: the culinary arts.

After 5.5 years of European life, I returned home, and destiny introduced me to a friend’s friend. Today, we proudly run a homestay, cooking experience, and tour operator in Kumarakom, a picturesque village embraced by backwaters. Our philosophy is rooted in sustainability, ensuring that every program we conduct benefits the community.
