Lakari | 27 | New Zealand | Sep 2024
I’m originally from Australia but now I live in New Zealand, working as a professional skydiver doing tandem skydiving and freefall videography. If I’m not taking people for tandem skydives or being the videographer, I’m still trying to jump with my friends for fun outside of work. I’m super passionate and stoked on skydiving! When I can’t be in the sky at all, I love to travel, whether that’s road trips, heading to the beach, or taking some time off to travel further overseas (and usually do skydiving somewhere else!). The rest of my time is usually spent skating, paddleboarding, going to the gym, hiking, or chilling in my hammock with a book by the lake.
Life philosophy: I try to live my life in a way so that I don’t have any regrets when I go to bed. You never know what life has in store so make the most of it while you can! If I want to do something new or go somewhere, I make a budget and plan to tick those things off. I try to live in a way where if I didn’t wake up tomorrow, I could’ve confidently said, I’m happy with what I’ve done and experienced! Living a good life is subjective to each individual but for me it involves plenty of time outdoors, doing things I’m passionate about and surrounding myself with quality individuals who support me and also encourage me to be the best version of me. I like the idea of “getting comfortable with the uncomfortable” and pushing yourself to get out of your comfort zone and have found I enjoy the personal challenge and rewards that this brings.
Favorite local dish / place to eat and drink: There’s so many good eateries and bars around it’s hard to pick! Most places around are a good vibe. I do love a good locally brewed beer or Espresso Martini and I’m a sucker for sushi or a good pub feed!
Favorite local activity: My favorite thing to do in town is of course skydiving! But I also love getting out in nature and going for a hike. It’s so beautiful! Snowboarding in the winter is pretty rad too!
Where I’d most like to visit in New Zealand / Australia: There are very few places in New Zealand I haven’t explored by now so I can’t name somewhere I want to go! Back in Australia I would love to do a HUGE road trip and drive around the country visiting all the hidden gems we have to offer and hike the Overland Track.

Gaurav | 42 | Delhi, India | Sep 2024
I was born in Jaipur, the capital city of India’s largest state, Rajasthan. My family has roots in Delhi, so we moved back when I was 5 years old, and I’ve lived here ever since. My father, brother, and I all work in tourism, and we can conduct tours in English, Japanese, and Italian. I love to travel, I’m not shy, and I’ll talk to anyone because I love to learn from people.
Life philosophy: Believe in Karma. Live every day to the fullest – work, save a little, travel, spend time with your loved ones, take time for yourself, reduce stress, and be kind to everyone. My life philosophy changed during covid when I realized that we really only have ourselves to rely on. My family and I started a food business, delivering meals to covid patients to get by, while the tourism industry practically shut down. One day, I picked up a 200 rupee note off the ground, and my life began to turn around – work picked up, I got healthy and lost a lot of weight, and I decided to appreciate each day.
Favorite local dish: Paneer butter masala or dal makhani (a lentil dish)
Favorite local place to eat and drink: Have More in New Delhi, which has been serving good quality food for 30 years and has the best butter chicken in the city
Favorite local activity: Badminton, cricket, and snooker (like billiards)
Where I’d most like to visit in India: South India – the backwaters in Kerala
Business info: I run 2 tours in Old Delhi – (1) the heritage walk which brings travelers to mosques, temples, the famous spice market, and old havelis and (2) the street food walk which takes travelers on a culinary adventure, trying Old Delhi’s delectable vegetarian cuisine.
Collin | 55 | Negril, Jamaica | Sep 2024
I was born and raised in Hanover, Jamaica, which is ~10 minutes from Negril, a popular tourist destination with amazing food, hotels, Airbnbs, waterfalls, the famous Rick’s Cafe, Bob Marley’s music, and hummingbirds. I have 6 kids and 14 grandkids and lived in America for 20 years, specifically in CT, IL, and FL. I’ve been back in Jamaica since 2010 and run a business called Collin’s Tours, Negril, Jamaica. It is my passion. I love meeting people from all walks of life, and from the moment I pick my guests up from the airport, I make sure they are having fun. I have 6 drivers who I personally trust, but guests can specifically request me if they’d like.
Life philosophy: Living a good life means having a good wife and working hard to achieve goals and be able to afford things. Sometimes times are tough, but I love making a living through tourism.

Favorite local place to eat and drink: Sweet Spice (there are 2 locations, Negril and Montego Bay)

Damien | 38 | Melbourne, Australia | Sep 2024
I grew up in Wagga Wagga, a small country town in regional Australia. I lived outside of Australia for the past 20 years and am now in Melbourne, rediscovering my home country. I am a mural artist and have traveled around the world painting. I currently have work in over 30 countries and am still painting almost every day.
Favorite local dish: Burger with the lot – burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, egg, beetroot, pineapple, everything. It’s best eaten out the front of an oceanside fish and chip shop in a small town.
Favorite local restaurant: Attica is an interesting restaurant that’s trying to incorporate native Australian bush ingredients.
Favorite local activity: Exploring abandoned spaces and factories’ storm water drains – that kind of thing. There is so much natural beauty so close to the cities. I love getting out and seeing that too.

Jesvanth | 35 | Kumarakom, India | Sep 2024
Nestled near the ocean, my village instilled in me a profound love for fish and bustling markets. My journey led me from the shores of my hometown to the diverse cuisines of Europe during my engineering studies. While my technical background afforded me the chance to live abroad and pursue a master’s in electronics, my true calling emerged: the culinary arts.
I began working in a European restaurant, only to realize that running a restaurant was not my path. After 5.5 years of European life, I returned home, yearning to start a venture of my own. Destiny introduced me to a friend’s friend, and together with another partner, we embarked on our new journey.
Today, we proudly run a homestay and cooking experience in Kumarakom, a picturesque village embraced by backwaters. For the past 3 years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting people from around the world, offering them a unique glimpse into local life. Our philosophy is rooted in sustainability, ensuring that every program we conduct benefits the community. Our guiding principle, “we grow together,” drives us to create meaningful experiences with the help of local people.
Our kitchen is a testament to our commitment to zero waste and minimal food mileage. We’re dedicated to providing guests with authentic, home-cooked meals that celebrate forgotten foods and traditional recipes. By tasting these cultural treasures, we believe one can truly appreciate the essence of our heritage.
Life philosophy: Start appreciating what you have, and happiness will come from within. Life is too short to peel garlic. 🙂
Favorite local dish: I like anything cooked with love. I love to cook and eat Biryani with my loved ones.
Favorite local place to eat and drink: It’s the village, beaches, and local markets where we can find life.
Favorite local activity: Trying out food from different parts of India
Where I’d most like to visit in India: Mountains and beaches fascinate me, especially the Himalayas.

I study medicine in Hamburg, work as a tennis coach during the summer, love to travel, and would love to live close to the ocean at some point.
Life philosophy: Always give your very best at everything so that even if you fall short of your goals, at least you gave it your all. Besides that, I try to live by YOLO (as cheesy as it sounds, it’s true).
